Sw6teen

Sw6teen is a photographic project that documents sixteen-year-olds girls in Milan using portrait photography. In this work “seriality” is the fundamental characteristic.

The photographer Donata Zanotti tooks the photographs with some constant elements: the lens, the frame, the mood, the distance and the light, in order to create equanimous portraits and to build a relationship between the girls and between her and them.

@sw6teen is an Instagram account, a virtual place where girls can meet and compare themselves with an instrument of their age.

@sw6teen, is a method of relating, takes its name from the sixteenth birthday 'Sweet Sixteen' of young Americans, the age that leads them to emancipate themselves from the family
